New feature adds vertical video, infinite scroll, and influencer-powered UGC to energize sports fans nationwide

Cignal’s Pilipinas Live app has teamed up with global streaming innovator Quickplay to launch Pilipinas Live Shorts—a dynamic new feature delivering high-impact, short-form video content in an interactive, social media-inspired format.

Through the integration of Quickplay Shorts, Pilipinas Live is enabling users to effortlessly discover and consume vertical video highlights from live and video-on-demand (VOD) content, transforming passive viewing into a social, scrollable experience.

This leap forward in content delivery not only enhances fan interaction but also positions Pilipinas Live as a leader in the evolving sports streaming ecosystem.

“Delivering relevant, short-form content is a game-changer for us—especially when it comes to user-generated content,” said Gerard Milan, Chief Revenue Officer of Cignal.

Quickplay’s plug-in SDK empowers Cignal to seamlessly identify, clip, and verticalize moments from popular events such as the PBA, UAAP, and other premier local leagues.

For fans, this means a richer, mobile-first viewing experience that keeps up with the speed of the game and the pulse of the crowd.

Even more exciting is Pilipinas Live Shorts’ UGC (user-generated content) feature, which allows influencers, athletes, and even fans to create, customize, and publish content with a single click—adding emojis, filters, and text overlays.

All this is made possible while maintaining safety and content integrity, thanks to Quickplay’s real-time moderation tools.

This aligns strongly with new viewing habits, particularly among Gen Z. According to the Deloitte 2025 Digital Media Trends study, Gen Z consumers spend 54% more time watching short-form content and UGC compared to traditional TV.

Quickplay’s own research supports this trend, revealing that 71% of Gen Z viewers discover content via social media—underscoring the strategic importance of Pilipinas Live Shorts’ social-style, infinite-scroll format.

“Pilipinas Live Shorts will drive captivating highlights and social content that helps them build a daily habit with consumers,” said Paul Pastor, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of Quickplay.

More than just a feature update, this move signals a shift in Cignal’s broader digital strategy: combining premium broadcast assets with new engagement layers to meet audiences where they are—on their phones, in vertical scroll, and among communities they trust.

The feature is already drawing excitement from young sports stars and influencers.

From Vanie Gandler’s volleyball highlights to Fifi Sharma and Pauline Lopez’s training vlogs, Pilipinas Live Shorts will amplify the voices of athletes and bring fans closer than ever to their sports heroes. It’s a shift from watching the game to being part of the game-day experience.

For Cignal, which launched in 2009 and now leads the pay-TV market in the Philippines, Pilipinas Live Shorts marks another innovative step in its evolution.

Alongside its traditional satellite offerings and growing OTT platforms such as Cignal Play and Cignal Play TV, this vertical short-form content push helps future-proof its media offerings in a rapidly shifting landscape.

As digital consumption patterns evolve, Pilipinas Live Shorts delivers on three fronts—entertainment, interaction, and innovation. And by harnessing the power of Quickplay Shorts, Cignal is ensuring that sports fans stay connected, engaged, and entertained—anytime, anywhere.
