A 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck Portuguese waters on Monday, 7.7 km southeast of the capital, Lisbon, and 74 km southwest of Setúbal, Kathy Dartford reported for Euronews.
The tremors were most intense in the Sines, Lisbon, and Setúbal areas.
The quake was confirmed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center.

The Portuguese Sea and Atmosphere Institute (IPMA) has since revised the earthquake's magnitude to 5.3 on the Richter scale.
The earthquake was recorded at 5:11 am local time (6:11 am CET), with its epicenter 58 kilometers west of Sines, in the high seas, at a depth of 21 kilometers, according to the IPMA.
