Jerome Powell is expected to hold his final policy meeting as chair of the Federal Reserve this week, though it remains unclear whether he will continue serving as a governor, Jennifer Schonberger reported for Yahoo Finance.

Powell’s term as chair ends May 15, but he could remain on the board until 2028 under his existing appointment. His potential successor, Kevin Warsh, faced delays in confirmation as Senator Thom Tillis held up the nomination pending a Justice Department review involving Powell.
Jeanine Pirro announced that the investigation had been closed and referred to the Fed’s inspector general.
Tillis later indicated support for moving forward with Warsh’s confirmation. Analysts say Powell may remain on the board to monitor developments, particularly the outcome of the inspector general’s review.
