PSE Index Ends Week Up On Bargain Hunting

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index rose Friday on bargain hunting, closing at its highest price point of 6,413.10 points—a gain of 107.73 points or 1.71 percent—with foreign investors once again as net buyers.

Only the Mining and Oil sub-index posted a loss, while other sectors advanced: Financials gained 2.38 percent, Industrials went up by 0.42 percent, Holding Firms advanced by 1.81 percent, Services rose by 0.45 percent, and Property climbed 2.32 percent.


Market bellwether SM Investments closed at its highest for the day at ₱879, up by ₱14 or 1.62 percent. ICTSI was the most active, with ₱1.14 billion in trades, gaining one percent to ₱404, up by ₱4.



Net foreign buying amounted to ₱126 million, with foreign buying at ₱3.314 billion versus foreign selling at ₱3.187 billion. Total trades reached ₱6.249 billion, with 109 gainers, 82 losers, and 54 unchanged issues.


Among the gainers were BDO Unibank, Ayala Land, SM Prime, Bank of PI, Universal Robina, Abacore, GMA-7, EastWest, Metrobank, PNB, Union Bank, Bright Kindle, Ferronoux, and Alternergy.



Finishing in the green, as well, were Citicore RE, First Gen, Meralco, Manila Water, Petron, Shell Pilipinas, Topline, Century Food, Ayala Corp, Aboitiz Equity, Alliance Global, Anscor, GT Capital, JG Summit, LT Group, San Miguel, AREIT RT, Cebu Landmasters, and Filinvest REIT,


Rounding out the list of stocks that were up were Robinsons Commercial, Robinsons Land, Belle Corp, Bloomberry, DigiPlus, PhilWeb, NickelAsia, PLDT, and Cebu Air.



Among the losers were Security Bank, RCBC, Globe Telecom, National Reinsurance, Cosco Capital, Monde Nissin, Synergy Grid, Axelum, Roxas and Co., Puregold, D&L Industries, Megawide, Philex Mining, Apex Mining, SSI Group, DMC Holdings, DoubleDragon, and Wilcon Depot.



Unchanged issues included Atlas Mining, OceanaGold, Philodrill, Emperador, ACEN Corp, Basic Energy, Semirara Mining, SPNEC, Figaro Coffee, Keeper Holdings, Vitarich, CEMEX Holdings, Araneta Properties, Century Property, MRC Allied, MREIT RT, Converge, Metri Retail, and Boulevard Holdings.
