PSE Index Falls 0.74% as Renewed Middle East Conflict Dampens Investor Sentiment

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index declined on renewed bombing runs in the Middle East, closing at 6,305.75 points, down 47.29 points, or 0.74 percent.

Renewed hostilities in the Middle East, with Iran launching attacks on U.S. bases and the United States responding with airstrikes, heightened geopolitical risks and weighed on investor sentiment.
The market tumbled to an intraday low of 6,253.52 points.
Sectoral indices ended mixed, with Industrials posting the biggest loss of 3.81 percent. Meralco, weighed down by concerns over a government policy pronouncement on system loss charges, led the losers with a 13.21-percent decline to ₱480.00 per share.
Other declining sectors were Holding Firms, down 0.68 percent, and Services, down 0.09 percent.
Meanwhile, Mining and Oil gained 1.51 percent, Property rose 0.09 percent, and Financials advanced 0.24 percent.
Among mining stocks, Apex Mining climbed 1.86 percent to ₱14.24, while Philex Mining gained 2.69 percent to ₱8.40, as investors sought gold-related assets amid the renewed geopolitical tensions.
Value turnover reached ₱6.22 billion, with foreign trades accounting for ₱5.70 billion.
The market recorded net foreign buying of ₱643 million, with foreign purchases amounting to ₱3.172 billion and foreign sales totaling ₱2.52 billion. Market breadth remained negative, with 113 losers, 65 gainers, and 54 unchanged issues.
