The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index Tuesday reached a milestone, closing at its highest level at 6,412.86 points—a gain of 60.20 points or 0.95 percent.

Only the Financials sector was down. Although it could have added more points to the index, profit-taking in the sector resulted in a slight loss of 0.06 percent.


It hit a high of 2,404 points for the Financials sub-index but closed lower at 2,398 points. This decline was largely due to BDO Unibank dropping by 2.04 percent to ₱158.70, down ₱3.30.



Holding Firms rose by 1.49 percent, Industrials gained 1.21 percent, Services advanced by 0.74 percent, Mining and Oil increased by 0.80 percent, and Property went up by 1.64 percent.


Market bellwether SM Investments rose by ₱12 to ₱850, while ICTSI was the most actively traded stock with ₱614 million in trades as it rose by ₱3 to ₱415.


There was net foreign buying of ₱168 million, with total foreign buying at ₱2.923 billion and foreign selling at ₱2.754 billion. Value turnover was slightly below average at ₱5.98 billion.


There were 103 gainers, 102 losers, and 52 unchanged.


Among the gainers were Bank of PI, Ayala Land, Bloomberry, SM Prime, Metrobank, Jollibee Foods, Universal Robina, DoubleDragon, ABS-CBN, Integrated Micro, GT Capital, Security Bank, Aboitiz Power, Semirara Mining, Shell Pilipinas, Topline, Century Food, Emperador, Ayala Corp, Aboitiz Equity, Alliance Global, Cosco Capital, LT Group, Robinsons Land, Apex Mining, and Philex Mining.


Among the losers were SPNEC, AgriNurture, Citicore RE, First Gen, ACEN Corp, PNB, Petron, Axelum, Steniel, JG Summit, AREIT RT, Cebu Landmasters, Converge, DITO CME, PhilWeb, Nickel Asia, Metro Retail, and Synergy Grid.


Unchanged were Union Bank, Alternergy, D&L Industries, Ginebra, Puregold, Megaworld, Shang Properties, Vista REIT, Globe Telecom, Monde Nissin, and Vitarich.
