PSE INDEX RECOVERS
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index today recovered lost ground even with net foreign selling to advance by 71.76 points or 1.02 percent to 7,119.61 points.
Value turnover reached P8.7 billion, with P300 million traded in the last 10 minutes, with 159 gainers, 72 losers and 31 shares unchanged. Net foreign selling amounted to P680 million on foreign buys of P1.8 billion, and foreign sell of P2.48 billion.
All sub indices were up, with the financials up by a hefty 4.28 percent and mining and oil up 3.84 percent. BDO Unibank, powered by foreign buying of P122 million, rose by P7.10 or 7.11 percent to P107, while Bank of PI closed P1.90 higher to P82.90. Metrobank was up P2.95 to P47.45.
Dito was again the most active with P1.3 billion as it closed at P12.70, up by 44 centavos followed by Ayala Corp Energy which dropped by 6 centavos to P8.95.
Market darling MerryMart gained 22 centavos to P7.42 while market bellwether lost P6 to P1,034.
PLDT closed lower by P20 at P1,350, while Globe Telecom posted a P3 gain to P2,000. Converge was up by 54 centavos to P15.38, while Jollibee Foods lost P1.80 to P192 on foreign selling of P34 million.
