PSE INDEX RISES IN HEFTY TRADE

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index rose to 7,044.06 points, up 84.85 points or 1.22 percent in another hefty trading with all subsectors in the green with the gainers ahead of losers 122 to 89 with 54 shares unchanged.

Trading reached P18.162 billion, with the locals accounting for much of the market trades as net foreign selling amounted to a low of P68 million on foreign buying of P1.463 billion and foreign selling of P1.532 billion.


Market bellwether SM Investments accounted for P10.82 billion, emerging again as the most active stock, as its share price went up by P10 to P1,070, with foreign selling of P100 million.

The second most active stock was Dito CME, which went up by 58 centavos to P17.98, with trades of P937 million, as second liners were again actively traded and we're in the Top 20 active stocks.


This included Premiere Horizon, down 11 centavos to P2.79; Apollo Global, down P0.006 to P0.243; Vulcan, up a centavo to P3.84, and Basic Energy up 2 centavos to P1.15.


Market darling MerryMart declined by 16 centavos to P7.34, while Ayala Land and SM Prime rose, respectively, by 10 centavos to P40.10 and P1.25 to P38. The former had foreign buys of P71 million and the latter, P73 million.


ICTSI gained 20 centavos to P122.40, even with foreign selling of P67 million Jollibee Foods lost 50 centavos on foreign selling of P25 million to close at P179.
