The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index on Monday closed at its intraday low of 6,265.72, down 20.98 points, or 0.33 percent, as renewed hostilities involving Iran dampened investor sentiment.

The market opened strongly, but investors took profits after the index reached an intraday high of 6,325.97, amid renewed fears that escalating tensions in the Middle East could drive crude oil prices higher.
Investor concerns intensified after reports that the United States launched strikes on Iran, which was followed by Iranian attacks on U.S. bases in Kuwait and the reported closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route through which roughly one-fifth of the world's crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplies pass.
Most blue-chip stocks advanced during early trading and extended their gains before reversing course as investors locked in profits toward the close.
Five of the six sectoral indices ended lower, with only the Services Index posting a gain, rising 0.40 percent as ICTSI climbed 0.30 percent to ₱988.00. The market favorite, which posted ₱1.4 billion in trades, reached a new intraday high of ₱1,000.00 before retreating to a low of ₱971.00.
The Financials Index declined 0.63 percent, Industrial fell 1.02 percent, Holding Firms slipped 0.29 percent, Mining and Oil dropped 2.27 percent, and Property eased 0.29 percent.

PLDT climbed to an intraday high of ₱1,194.00 before closing at its session low of ₱1,165.00, still up 0.17 percent.
Meanwhile, Apex Mining fell 5.38 percent to ₱12.30, after earlier reaching a high of ₱12.90.
Total value turnover reached ₱16.8 billion, although ₱11.6 billion came from block trades involving Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc., which is in the process of delisting from the exchange.
Foreign investors were net sellers by ₱673 million, with foreign buying amounting to ₱2.79 billion and foreign selling totaling ₱3.46 billion.
Market breadth remained negative, with 101 decliners, 77 advancers, and 75 unchanged issues.
