PSE Index Tumbles 1.12% to Lowest Close Since November 2025

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index fell 65.12 points, or 1.12%, on Thursday to close at 5,730.02, extending its losing streak to five sessions as foreign selling and concerns over economic growth and market conditions weighed on sentiment. The index closed at its intraday low.

The decline brought the PSEi to its lowest close since Nov. 14, 2025, according to market reports.
The All Shares index also fell 35.72 points, or 1.10%, to 3,210.72. Five of the six sectoral indices declined by more than 1%.
Mining and Oil posted the steepest loss, falling 3.79%, followed by Industrial at 1.64%, Services at 1.52%, Financials at 1.33% and Property at 1.15%. Holding Firms bucked the broader decline, rising 0.43%.
Ayala Corp. led the holding-firm advance, gaining 3.09% to ₱500 from ₱485 a share.
The stock reached an intraday high of ₱502 and a low of ₱480, according to PSE data.
International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) fell 1.67% to ₱885, while SM Investments Corp. declined 0.89% to ₱500. ICTSI traded as low as ₱885 during the session, while SM Investments reached an intraday high of ₱505.
Total market value turnover reached about ₱5.09 billion, based on PSE data, while 863.67 million shares changed hands. The exchange recorded 80,703 trades. Market breadth was sharply negative, with 131 declining stocks against 61 advancers and 57 unchanged issues.
Foreign investors recorded net selling of about ₱749 million, according to market data reported after the session.
Daily Tribune also reported foreign outflows of ₱749.31 million.
The peso also weakened during the session, while rising oil prices, a stronger US dollar and concerns about Philippine growth prospects added to the negative market backdrop, according to market reports.
