The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) gained ground today as four of its six sub sectors eked out rises to close at 5,861.39, up 22.73 points or 0.39 percent.

The financials was up .28 percent, industrial, up .43 percent, services up 0.39 per cent and holding firms, up 0.83 percent. Mining and oil and property were hold outs down 0.48 per cent and 0.63 percent respectively.

Value turnover amounted to P5.082 billion with gainers at 88 shares, losers 113 shares and unchanged at 36 shares. 

Dito was the most active stock with P493 million as it went up by 29 centavos to P4.49. It had been trading heavily since two weeks ago. Another Telco stock Now was also up.by 27 centavos P3.20.

Net foreign selling hit P1.8 billion on foreign selling of P2.846 billion and foreign buying of P1.040 billion. 

Market bellwether SM Investments closed P26 higher to P895 though it hit a low of P869. MerryMart was up 2 centavos to P3.07.

Ayala Land was down 45 centavos to P29.80 while SM Prime was unchanged at P28.50. BDO Unibank lost 55 centavos to P86.45 while Bank of PI was up 50 centavos to P64.

Jollibee Foods with foreign buying of P17 million gained P1.10 to P139.10.
