PSE UP ON LATE BUYING
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) today closed on a late buying spree ending 18.10 points or 0.67 per cent higher to 6,285.50 points on a healthy value turnover of P8.72 billion.
Opening lower and subsiding further on selling pressure to a low of 6,227.74 points, bargain hunters came in strong late in the game picking up selected blue chip stocks to post a minimal gain.
There were 82 gainers against 106 losers with 44 issues unchanged but at the end of trade, only three of the top ten traded stocks ended in positive territory.
DMC bannered the gainers with total trade of P978 million on a 5 centavo gain to P4.22. The Consunji-led conglomerate also nudged the rise in holding firms sub index and together with that of the services sector were responsible for the small gain at the close.
PLDT and BPI were the other two gainers with respective gains of P51 and P2.50 to close at P1,348 and P74.50. BDO declined by P2.40 to P95.60 while ALI lost 80 centavos to P33.90.
Market darling Merry Mart lost 10 centavos to P3.03 though it dropped to its lowest level of P3.
