Rolls-Royce Begins Testing Project Nightingale Electric Convertible

Rolls-Royce has begun global testing of Project Nightingale, its limited-production electric Coachbuild Collection model, putting the company on track to begin customer deliveries in 2028.

The open-top, two-seat model is limited to 100 client cars and is available by invitation only. Rolls-Royce says the project combines its coachbuilding tradition with an all-electric powertrain.

The company has planned an extensive testing program covering 350 collective weeks.

Prototypes will be tested in environments ranging from Southern Europe and the Arctic Circle to the Arabian Peninsula.

Rolls-Royce also said the prototypes have completed more than 1,430 hours of aerodynamic modeling and wind-tunnel testing. The car's Piano Boot, a distinctive sideways-opening luggage compartment, will undergo 15,000 opening and closing cycles as part of the testing program.

Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2028.
