The nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) confirmed that the Oct. 15, 2020 faceoff between US President Donald Trump and Joe Biden has been scrapped, the Boston Globe reported.

The decision was made a day after the commission announced the debate would take place “virtually” because Trump had contracted the coronavirus, but Trump immediately junked the idea and said he would not do a virtual debate and take on questions from independent voters.
Biden agreed to the virtual debate and said he would be more than willing to face Trump in the third scheduled debate on Oct. 22 in Nashville, Tennessee.
After Trump retreated from the battle, Biden consented to appearing in Philadelphia for a town hall-type meeting organized by ABC News on Oct. 15, leaving Trump to hold a mini-rally in the White House while he is still being treated for COVID-19 and oftentimes gasping for air in his Fox News interviews.
