SOLON SCORES ‘WOW CHINA’ PROGRAM ON RADYO PILIPINAS

Calling the Duterte administration “insensitive,” Bayan Muna Rep. Ferdinand Gaite has asked the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) to just “kill” the “Wow China” radio program being aired by Radyo Pilipinas since it legitimizes the incursions of Beijing in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) and burnishes the aggressive “cabbage”policy of China that uses layers of fishing activities and outright naval operations to keep Filipino fishermen and the Philippine Navy (PN) out of Panatag Shoal and the Spratlys.

Gaite criticized the Duterte administration for allowing the “Wow China” program to be aired on the state-run Radyo Pilipinas despite popular revulsion over Chinese incursions into the country’s exclusive economic zone.

He said the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) has committed another monumental blunder by permitting the program to air even as the furor over the “Isang Dagat” music video featuring singer Imelda Papin music video that legitimized Chinese adventures in the South China Sea has not died down.

"While there is nothing wrong about appreciating the rich cultures of our Asian neighbors, this show is really unpleasant to the ears as it comes at the heels of China's repeated disrespect of our territorial integrity and sovereignty,” Gaite maintained." On the one hand, the government radio station is busy promoting 'better relations and friendship' with China. On the other hand, the Chinese government is busy establishing its foothold on our islands in the WPS. We're blasting Chinese propaganda on our radio, and they're blasting Filipino fishermen off our waters and pointing their guns at our navy,” he stressed.
