Spain Scraps Arms Deals With Israel’s Elbit Systems and Rafael

Spain has canceled a €700 million ($820 million) contract to purchase artillery systems from Israel’s Elbit Systems, Oded Yaron reported for Haaretz.

Amid the war in Gaza and mounting Spanish condemnation of Israel’s actions there, Madrid also canceled a $278 million contract to purchase Spike missiles from Rafael.

Norway, Spain, Germany, and the UK have also canceled financial contracts with Israel. Both the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) have considered Israeli leaders — including Netanyahu, Gallant, and Herzog — as potential war criminals.

The UN General Assembly voted 142–10 to reaffirm support for a two-state solution, while global genocide scholars and human rights organizations — including Amnesty International, Israeli human rights groups, and the UN Human Rights Council — have labeled Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide.


Many Israeli soldiers are reportedly refusing to fight.
