A man suspected in fatal shootings at Brown University and the killing of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) professor has been found dead in a New Hampshire storage facility after a five-day multistate search, authorities said Thursday. Kimberlee Kruesi, Alanna Durkin Richer, and Eric Tucker reported for the Associated Press (AP).

Claudio Neves Valente, 48, a former Brown student and Portuguese national, was found dead Thursday evening from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Providence Police Chief Col. Oscar Perez. Investigators believe Valente acted alone.
Authorities said Valente is believed to be responsible for a shooting at Brown University that killed two people, followed two days later by the killing of an MIT professor at the victim’s home in Brookline, Massachusetts, nearly 50 miles (80 kilometers) away, according to US Attorney for Massachusetts Leah B. Foley.
Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said Valente was found with a satchel and two firearms.
Evidence recovered from a nearby vehicle matched the Brown University crime scene. Initial findings indicate Valente died by suicide, though investigators could not immediately determine how long he had been inside the storage unit, Nadine Yousif, Max Matza, and Tabby Wilson reported for BBC News.
