Hackers, believed to be linked to a Chinese intelligence agency, infiltrated the network to spy on high-value intelligence targets' cellphone communications.
T-Mobile acknowledged the industry-wide attack but stated that its systems and customer data were not significantly impacted. "We have no evidence of impacts to customer information," a spokesperson told Reuters.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) disclosed that China-linked hackers intercepted surveillance data intended for U.S. law enforcement agencies. It remains unclear what specific information the hackers accessed or exfiltrated.
