Rep. Nathaniel Moran (R-Texas) said he does not support President Trump’s warning that a “whole civilization will die tonight” ahead of a deadline for Iran to strike a peace deal, as reported by Sudiksha Kochi for The Hill.

“Let me be clear: I do not support the destruction of a ‘whole civilization.’ That is not who we are, and it is not consistent with the principles that have long guided America,” Moran wrote on X.
Moran emphasized support for a strong but principled national defense, adding that how the U.S. protects innocent lives is as important as how it confronts adversaries.
His remarks came before Trump later announced a two-week delay in his deadline for a ceasefire with Iran.
Trump had been increasing pressure on Tehran, including demands related to the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil chokepoint through which roughly 20% of the world’s supply passes.
He also warned of potential strikes on Iranian infrastructure if demands were not met.
