Trump Again Labels Strait of Hormuz "Trump Strait"

President Donald Trump has again referred to the Strait of Hormuz as the "Trump Strait," sharing a map of the waterway on Truth Social amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, according to reports.

Trump's post showed a map of the Middle East with the words "TRUMP STRAIT" placed over the waterway. The post was made on Sept. 25, according to an archive of Trump's Truth Social posts. 

The post came shortly after Iran proposed a seven-day plan under which it would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume broader negotiations with the United States if Washington agreed to conditions involving the naval blockade, sanctions and a ceasefire. Trump said he had rejected Iran's proposal. 

Trump had previously floated the idea of renaming the waterway. On Sept. 2, he posted that, if it were under US control, the Strait of Hormuz should be renamed the "Trump Strait." 

The name "Trump Strait" is not an official international renaming of the waterway. The Strait of Hormuz remains its established geographic name.
