U.S. President Donald Trump helped unseat five incumbent Republican state senators in Indiana’s primary elections after backing challengers opposed to lawmakers who resisted his redistricting efforts last year, Jane C. Timm reported for NBC News.

One additional GOP senator backed by Trump faced a tight race, while another incumbent survived.
The defeats underscore Trump’s continued influence within the Republican Party, even as broader public approval ratings weaken amid rising fuel prices and tensions in the Middle East.
Trump’s involvement in the typically low-profile races attracted national attention and significant spending.
According to ad-tracking firm AdImpact, roughly $12 million was spent across the seven contested races involving Trump-endorsed challengers. Most of the spending came from Trump-aligned outside groups opposing incumbents.
