President Donald Trump said during a speech in Florida that he believes it is “treasonous” for critics to claim the United States is not succeeding in its conflict with Iran, CBS News and the Associated Press (AP) reported.

Trump has repeatedly pushed back against criticism of his administration’s Iran policy. Under the U.S. Constitution, treason is narrowly defined as waging war against the United States or giving “aid and comfort” to its enemies.

In a related development, the Pentagon is reportedly planning to withdraw about 5,000 U.S. troops from Germany.

Officials said the move could reflect frustration within the administration over the level of support provided by European allies. Trump has publicly criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and other NATO leaders for not taking a more direct role in U.S. military operations.
