U.S. President Donald Trump said in a recent interview that his “own morality” was the only constraint on his power to order military actions around the world, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.

Trump’s comments to David E. Sanger, Tyler Pager, Katie Rogers, and Zolan Kanno-Youngs of The New York Times came after he launched a lightning operation to topple Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and threatened a host of other countries as well as the autonomous territory of Greenland.
“Yeah, there is one thing. My own morality. My own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me,” Trump told the newspaper when asked whether there were any limits on his global powers.
Trump is a convicted felon, twice divorced, and a sexual predator, as ruled by a New York court, according to People, HuffPost, and the Associated Press (AP).
“I don’t need international law,” he added. “I’m not looking to hurt people.” The Republican president then said that he “does” need to abide by international law, but added that “it depends what your definition of international law is.”
The United States is not a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which tries war criminals, and has repeatedly rejected decisions by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the United Nations’ top court.
By admitting he would not abide by international and U.S. law, Trump confirmed he belongs to a cabal of authoritarian leaders, CounterPunch and The Daily Beast argued.
