Trump Claims Maduro Was "Captured and Flown Out of Caracas"

U.S. President Donald Trump claimed without providing evidence that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro had been captured and flown out of Venezuela following a large-scale US strike on Caracas, CNN reported.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told a Republican senator that Maduro would stand trial in the United States.


However, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez said the government was unaware of the whereabouts of Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, adding that the US attack had killed officials, military personnel, and civilians across the country.

A CNN team earlier witnessed several explosions in Caracas and reported power outages in parts of the city.


 The first blast was recorded at approximately 1:50 a.m. local time Saturday (12:50 a.m. ET). As of 5:30 p.m. Philippine time, the United States had presented no proof that its forces had captured Maduro.
