Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company has received approval from the Trump administration to export its advanced H20 computer chips—used for developing artificial intelligence—to China, Elaine Kurtenbach and Yu Bing reported for the Associated Press (AP).

Huang announced the development during an interview on China's state-run CGTN network, a clip of which was also shared on X.

“The U.S. government has assured Nvidia that licenses will be granted, and Nvidia hopes to start deliveries soon,” he said. Speaking to reporters in Beijing, Huang added: “Today I’m announcing that the U.S. government has approved our filing for licenses to start shipping H20s.”

He emphasized China’s importance, noting, “Half of the world’s AI researchers are in China. It’s so innovative and dynamic here that it’s really important American companies are able to compete and serve the market.”

Huang, who recently met with President Donald Trump and other U.S. policymakers, is in Beijing to attend a supply chain conference and meet with Chinese officials.

The broadcast showed him meeting Ren Hongbin, head of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and host of the China International Supply Chain Expo, where Nvidia is an exhibitor.

The U.S.-China trade rivalry, however, has loomed over the semiconductor industry. It remains unclear what prompted Trump’s reversal on Nvidia’s chip exports, but observers have noted his transactional approach to foreign policy and trade.
