At least seven explosions and low-flying aircraft were heard around 2 a.m. local time Saturday in Venezuela’s capital, Caracas, as the government accused the United States of attacking civilian and military installations in the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira, Regina Garcia Cano reported for the Associated Press (AP).

In a statement, Venezuela’s government called on its supporters to take to the streets. “People to the streets!” the statement said.
“The Bolivarian government calls on all social and political forces in the country to activate mobilization plans and repudiate this imperialist attack.”
The statement said President Nicolás Maduro had “ordered all national defense plans to be implemented” and declared “a state of external disturbance.”
The emergency measure gives the president the power to suspend certain rights and expand the role of the armed forces.
Venezuela said it will file complaints before the UN Security Council, the UN secretary-general, and other international bodies demanding condemnation of the United States, Michael Rios and Juliana Gonzalez reported for CNN.
Iranian state television also reported on the explosions, airing images from Caracas. Iran, a longtime ally of Venezuela, condemned President Donald Trump for attacking foreign countries as he “sinks in the quicksand of the Epstein files.”
