President Trump said that his Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, was “wrong” when she testified in March that Iran was not building a nuclear weapon.

It was the second time in a week the president publicly dismissed the assessment of the intelligence director he appointed, Kathryn Wilson reported for CBS News.
This week, the White House stated that Iran has everything it needs to build a nuclear weapon within weeks. Trump himself said Iran was “very close to having” a nuclear weapon.
Back in March, Gabbard testified on Capitol Hill that the US “continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and that Supreme Leader Khamenei has not authorized the nuclear weapons program he suspended in 2003.”
On Friday, Trump dismissed both the intelligence community’s position and Gabbard’s testimony, stating that he would decide within two weeks whether to join Israel in its military campaign against Iran.
Earlier this week, while returning from a G7 summit in Canada, the president was asked by a reporter about Gabbard’s March testimony. “I don’t care what she said,” he responded aboard Air Force One.
“I think they were very close to having one.”
In a post on X, Gabbard accused media outlets of “taking my testimony out of context.” Vice President JD Vance also weighed in on X, writing on Tuesday: “Tulsi’s testimony was in March, and a lot has changed since then.”
