President Donald Trump has informed Congress that U.S. military hostilities with Iran have ended, CBS News reported, though American forces remain deployed in the region.

The administration argued that the War Powers Resolution’s 60-day requirement for congressional authorization no longer applies following a ceasefire. However, the continued presence of U.S. forces has raised questions among lawmakers and legal analysts about the interpretation of the law.
Separately, the U.S. has continued to approve major defense sales in the region.
Kuwait has agreed to purchase an Integrated Battle Command System developed by Northrop Grumman for $2.5 billion, while Qatar is set to acquire 500 Patriot missile interceptors worth $4.01 billion, according to the State Department.
Officials say the systems are intended to strengthen regional missile defense capabilities.
