President Donald Trump said the United States does not need China’s assistance in resolving the Iran conflict, despite Chinese President Xi Jinping reportedly offering support during their summit in Beijing.

Speaking to Fox News anchor Bret Baier, Trump said: “He would like to help. If he wants to help, that’s great, but we don’t need help.”
“You know the problem with help? When somebody helps you, they always want something on the other side,” Trump added.
According to CBS News, Trump earlier told reporters that China had offered to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil chokepoint affected by the Iran conflict.
China imports substantial amounts of Middle Eastern oil and remains one of Iran’s largest energy buyers, although analysts say Beijing’s large petroleum reserves have somewhat insulated it from immediate disruptions.
Trump also said the United States had come close to reaching a deal with Iran but accused Tehran of repeatedly backing away from negotiations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, meanwhile, said Iran could not fully trust the United States but remained committed to maintaining a fragile ceasefire to allow diplomacy to continue.
