President Donald Trump said he is sending 5,000 US troops to Poland, reversing a prior decision to halt deployment of a US Army brigade to the NATO ally, ABC News reported.

Trump said the decision was influenced in part by the election of Polish President Karol Nawrocki, calling it a reflection of strong bilateral relations.
The announcement appears to contradict a Pentagon decision last week to cancel deployment of a 4,200-soldier brigade, despite the unit already having completed training and equipment staging.
It remains unclear whether the newly announced troops are part of a redeployment or a separate force rotation.
