President Donald Trump is preparing a new wave of tariffs—industry-specific and country-by-country—that could reshape the U.S. role in global trade by penalizing imports from abroad, Bloomberg News reporters Joe Deaux, Jerry Leonard, Alicia Diaz, and Josh Wingrove reported.

Trump is proposing a 50% duty on imported copper.
According to sources familiar with the plan, administration officials may release details in the coming days on Trump’s proposed 50% duty on imported copper. The tariff is expected to take effect on August 1, the same day reciprocal levies on goods from more than 100 countries are scheduled to begin.
Trump said he is likely to impose tariffs on pharmaceutical imports by the end of the month, with semiconductor duties possibly following soon after, The Japan Times also reported.
The measures are part of a broader push by Trump to reassert control over U.S. trade relationships and reduce dependency on foreign supply chains.
