TRUMP URGES FOX TO FIRE ITS CORRESPONDENT FOR TELLING THE TRUTH
US President Donald Trump has demanded that Fox News fire its own national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin for confirming that he did denigrate fallen American soldiers buried in Paris as “suckers” and those who went to war in Vietnam as “losers.”
Writing for Business Insider late on September 5, 2020, Oma Seddiq and David Choi revealed that “Fox News on Friday said the report was fabricated and criticized The Atlantic's use of anonymous sources. However, one of its own — national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin — said parts of the damning report, which cited two ex-Trump administration officials, were verified to her.”
"According to one former senior Trump administration official: 'When the President spoke about the Vietnam War, he said, 'It was a stupid war. Anyone who went was a sucker,'" Griffin tweeted. She also reported learning that Trump "just hated" Sen. John McCain and thought it was "not a good look" to include the "wounded guys" in a July 4 military parade. The source also described "a character flaw" of the president, saying, "he could not understand why someone would die for their country," Griffin added.
Trump appeared to be aware of Griffin's reporting and demanded Fox News to fire her but journalists who covered the White House responded by defending Griffin's credentials and her reporting, noting that 28 different sources, from White House officials to Cabinet secretaries past and present, as well as national security officials all confirmed Trump’s nasty remarks about soldiers. Trump never served in the military and secured five deferments because of what he claimed were his nasty bone spurs.
