UKMTO said the southbound tugboat was northeast of Khor Fakkan, off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), when it reported being struck by two unidentified projectiles.

“The tug has sustained damage but is continuing on its route,” the agency said, adding that one minor casualty had been reported.

The incident followed a series of attacks on commercial vessels in and around the Strait of Hormuz. UKMTO advisories documented multiple incidents during October, including attacks involving tankers and container ships.

The incidents have heightened concerns about maritime security in the strategic waterway, a critical route for global oil shipments. Authorities are investigating the attacks, and UKMTO has advised vessels to transit with caution and report suspicious activity.
