The embattled court received strong support from traditional U.S. allies in Europe, who condemned Trump’s executive order issued recently, which imposed sanctions on the ICC over its investigation of Israel.
Neither the U.S. nor Israel recognizes the court, which recently issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for alleged war crimes related to Israel’s military response in Gaza following the Hamas attack in October 2023.
