Officials from the United States and Iran held direct talks in Islamabad, according to a report by Reuters cited by Haaretz.

Participants reportedly included US Vice President JD Vance, envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, alongside Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Pakistan’s military leadership facilitated the meeting.
The talks come amid heightened regional tensions, including the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Iran.
Reports also indicated that US naval vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz for the first time since the conflict began.
US officials denied claims that Washington had agreed to release frozen Iranian assets.
Meanwhile, intelligence assessments cited by The Wall Street Journal suggest Iran retains significant missile capabilities, contradicting recent statements by Benjamin Netanyahu and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
