The United States has approved a new tranche of weapons sales worth about $9 billion to Israel and several Middle East allies, the Trump administration announced, CBS News reported.

The State Department formally notified Congress of the deals but invoked emergency authority to bypass the traditional congressional review process, citing urgent security concerns.
Among the approved sales, the U.S. will provide 10,000 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems (APKWS) to Israel at a cost of $992.4 million.
The APKWS converts unguided rockets into precision-guided munitions using laser targeting.
Similar systems are also being sold to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates under comparable terms, according to the State Department.
