The U.S. housing market is more buyer-friendly than it has been in years, thanks largely to a surge in available inventory.

Still, affordability remains a significant challenge, with many prospective buyers waiting for prices to drop, Forbes Daily reported.


As of June, there were 1.36 million homes actively for sale—the highest number since November 2019. The median sale price reached a record $435,300. Zillow senior economist Orphe Divounguy says that to maintain momentum in the housing market, a price correction is likely necessary.
