U.S. Mint Releases Trump $1 Coin for America's 250th Anniversary

The US Mint on Wednesday began selling rolls and bags of a new $1 coin featuring President Donald Trump, part of the country's commemoration of its 250th anniversary.

The 2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 Coin features Trump's portrait on the obverse and the Presidential Seal on the reverse. The coin is legal tender and is being sold by the US Mint in rolls and bags as a collector product.

A 25-coin roll is priced at $61, equivalent to $2.44 per coin, while a 100-coin bag costs $154.50, or $1.545 per coin.

The coins are circulating-quality $1 coins minted at the Philadelphia Mint, but they have not been placed into general circulation. They can nevertheless be used as legal tender.

The Mint also struck 250,000 coins on July 4 with a special "July 4th" privy mark. Those coins were randomly included in the rolls and bags sold to collectors.

Despite descriptions of the coin as "gold," the issue is not made of gold. It is a $1 circulating-quality coin with a gold-colored appearance/finish.

The coin's release has drawn attention because it features the portrait of a sitting president.

Its legal status is based on legislation authorizing the 2026 semiquincentennial circulating coin program.

Separately, Palm Beach International Airport was officially renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport in July. Its airport code changed from PBI to DJT on Aug. 18.

However, claims that passengers have canceled tickets by a "huge percentage" because of the renaming are not supported by reliable evidence and should not be included without a documented source.
