The US auto safety regulator, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), has launched a preliminary evaluation into 77,131 Nissan vehicles following reports of a steering tie rod issue, Utkash Shetti reported for Reuters.

In June, the NHTSA opened a separate investigation into approximately 75,000 Nissan 2015 Rogue Select models following reports of unintended side airbag deployments in some vehicles. I Photo: Nissan News USA
The investigation focuses on the 2021 Nissan Rogue crossover models, with the NHTSA initiating the probe after receiving reports of inner tie rod failures that resulted in a loss of steering control.
The evaluation will examine the safety-related consequences, scope, frequency, and root cause of the alleged defect, according to the regulator.
