The Trump administration has approved the sale of 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles to Ukraine, a potentially powerful addition to Kyiv’s arsenal as it continues to fend off Russia’s assault, Jennifer Hansler reported for CNN.

The proposed $825 million sale, announced Thursday, comes amid faltering diplomatic efforts and a deadly night of Russian strikes on Kyiv.

It follows separate meetings this month between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and later with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

While the administration has approved several sales of equipment to maintain existing systems, this appears to be its first major new arms deal with Ukraine.

A source familiar with the deal said the missiles — with a range of 150–280 miles — could be delivered later this year if the sale is finalized. It remains unclear whether restrictions will be placed on their use.

“Ukraine will use funding from Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway, along with U.S. Foreign Military Financing, for this purchase,” the State Department said. “The ERAM is an example of working together with our NATO allies to develop a capable and scalable system deliverable on a fast timeline.”
