Futures tied to the S&P 500 fell 1.1%, while Nasdaq-100 futures dropped 2%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures declined 367 points, or 0.7%, Sean Conlon and Lee Ying Shan reported for CNBC.

Investors are concerned that a Democratic-led Congress could increase scrutiny of data centers and impose additional restrictions on their development. AI-related stocks have already retreated in recent weeks amid concerns about the pace of spending on data center infrastructure.
