UK police have arrested Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

Authorities did not name Mountbatten-Windsor, as is customary under UK law. However, when asked whether he had been arrested, police referred to a statement confirming that a man in his 60s had been taken into custody, Mountbatten-Windsor is 66, the Associated Press (AP) reported.
Salma Abdelaziz reported for CNN that the former prince was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
The arrest follows a prior review by authorities into allegations that a woman was trafficked to the UK by Jeffrey Epstein for a sexual encounter involving Mountbatten-Windsor, as well as claims that he may have shared sensitive information with Epstein while serving as the UK’s trade envoy.
Jasmine Andersson also reported for Yahoo News UK that the arrest came after a crime report was submitted to Thames Valley Police by Graham Smith, CEO of the anti-monarchy group Republic.
Smith said the group “reported Andrew to the police when others were unwilling to act.”
He added: “Make no mistake, this is a consequence of Republic taking action when others wouldn’t. The police had to investigate after I reported Andrew over these allegations, and they would have been well aware of our private prosecution. Republic has been instigating a private prosecution when the police were reluctant to investigate.”
