Japanese brand Uniqlo is taking legal action against Shein, the Chinese fast-fashion retailer, for selling products that closely resemble Uniqlo's Round Mini Shoulder Bag, which gained popularity on social media platforms, including TikTok, in 2022 and 2023, as reported by Jessie Yeung for CNN.

Fast Retailing, the parent company of Uniqlo, claimed that Shein's "imitation products" closely resemble Uniqlo's viral shoulder bag, leading to the lawsuit filed in Tokyo on December 28.
The lawsuit names three of Shein's operators — Roadget Business Pte, Fashion Choice Pte, and Shein Japan.
Uniqlo demands the immediate cessation of sales of the imitation products and compensation for damages incurred due to these sales.
The Round Mini Shoulder Bag gained widespread attention for its distinctive crescent shape and affordable price, selling out multiple times and even ranking as the hottest product in the first quarter of 2023, according to fashion tech firm Lyst.
