The suspension is effective immediately, though letters and flat envelopes are not included, the USPS stated. However, the postal service did not provide a reason for the suspension or indicate how long it will last.

Beijing earlier announced that it would counter President Trump's new 10% tariff on Chinese goods with retaliatory tariffs of its own.

China will implement a 15% tariff on coal and liquefied natural gas products, along with a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery, and large-engine vehicles imported from the U.S.
