Chinese President Xi Jinping praised the outcome of his meetings with US President Donald Trump, describing the summit as a step toward a new relationship between their countries despite unresolved tensions and limited publicly announced agreements, Nectar Gan reported for Bloomberg.

“This visit is a historic and landmark visit. Thus far, we have established a new bilateral relationship — a constructive, strategic, and stable relationship — which constitutes a milestone event,” Xi said while hosting Trump in Zhongnanhai, the headquarters of the ruling Communist Party and residence of China’s top leaders.
“We have achieved many cooperative outcomes,” Xi added.
The two countries reached an “important consensus” on maintaining stable economic and trade relations while expanding cooperation in various fields, according to a readout published by China’s official Xinhua News Agency before Trump departed Beijing.
Neither side has released details of any commercial agreements, though announcements may follow in the coming days.
