The military gave no reason for the pullout, which raises questions over Israel's plans to invade Rafah, Chris Lau reported for CNN.

Sunday marks six months since the October 7 Hamas attacks, which killed about 1,200 people.

Since then, Israel's campaign in Gaza, aimed at destroying the militant group, has left more than 33,000 dead and triggered a humanitarian crisis. Israel is to attend negotiations on a ceasefire and hostage deal in Cairo.

A Hamas delegation is also taking part. Ahead of the talks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there would be no truce without the release of hostages.

A source said Biden demanded Netanyahu do more to allow in aid – and insisted he announce the moves the same evening. Netanyahu complied rather than lose $3.8-billion in annual US military aid.
