Russia's Defense Chief Walks Away From Interview

A moment involving Russia's defense minister may hint at the Kremlin's thoughts on how the war in Ukraine is going, BBC reported.

Sergei Shoigu had been speaking with Russian Ministry of Defense-run media outlet TV Zvezda and was asked how the war will end, to which he responded: "Any war ends in peace."

But when the journalist asked how soon to expect peace in Ukraine, Shoigu did not answer the question and walked away. Although TV Zvezda originally aired the footage of the defense minister walking off, this was cut out in a later release.

In more recent months, Russia has appeared to be preparing its citizens for a drawn-out war. Western analysts have said Vladimir Putin is likely planning to draw out the war for as long as possible in the hope that the West's support for Ukraine will wane.
