Russia's invasions of the Crimean peninsula and Ukraine inspired Ukrainian student Igor Klymenko to develop a drone that could detect land mines without putting anyone at risk, Deutsche Welle (DW) reported.

Finding land mines is dangerous: People can be injured or killed. Farmers in Ukraine actually use mine detectors before they could work on their fields while others do the demining by hand.
Igor recently won the $100,000 Chegg.org Global Student Prize for his advanced drone, which technically has sensors to determine which objects are laced with explosives.
His invention joins others like the waterproof cardboard disposable drones that can be armed with grenades or mini-rockets.
