The company said that the recruitment drive was aimed at filling both existing vacancies as well as newly created positions at its 307 locations worldwide.
More than 800 new jobs will be created in Germany alone, the company said, including some 50 apprenticeships or dual study programs.
Adidas currently employs around 62,000 people worldwide, 5,300 of whom work at the company's headquarters in the Bavarian town of Herzogenaurach.
