E-commerce giant Amazon.com Inc. interfered with a union election by installing a mailbox to collect ballots and by distributing paraphernalia encouraging employees to vote against organizing, according to a report issued by the National Labor Relations Board's hearing officer.

The NLRB on Monday recommended a rerun of the landmark Amazon union election in Alabama, where employees had voted against making their warehouse the online retailer's first union in the United States, Reuters reported.
Organizers pushed the establishment of a union at the Alabama hub of Amazon but the management led by Jeff Bezos hired professional union busters and engaged in a massive propaganda campaign to denigrate unions, arguing that union officials profit from dues but seldom win any wage hike that improves the lives of workers.
Many officials, including US President Joe Biden, backed the union organizing efforts in Alabama, saying workers should be treated fairly and they should receive more than a decent wage. Amazon offers wages a tad higher than the minimum wage in Alabama.
